How to measure your body to find the right shirt size

Choosing the right shirt size is crucial for both comfort and style.
A well-fitting shirt highlights your fit, feels comfortable all day long and looks elegant no matter the occasion.

To find the right size, you just need a few simple body measurements.
With a soft measuring tape, a few minutes and our guide below, you can quickly get the measurements you need to choose the right shirt.

Measure your body – step by step

1. Measure all around

A – Neck measurement

Place the measuring tape around the lowest part of your neck where the collar sits. Let the measuring tape lie comfortably, not too tight. This measurement is the basis for choosing the shirt neck size.

B – Chest width

Measure around the widest part of your chest, just under your arms and above your scapulas. Hold the measuring tape horizontal and smooth against the body.

C – Waist width

Measure around your waist at the narrowest part or at the level of your belly button. Keep the tape flat without tightening.

D – Hip width

Measure around the widest part of the hips/buttocks. Mainly used for longer shirts or shirts worn outside the pants.

2. Measure back & sleeve

E – Back length

Measure from the lowest vertebra in your neck straight down your back to your hip. This will help you find the right shirt length.

F – Sleeve length
  • First, measure shoulder to shoulder – from the outer edge of one shoulder to the other across the back.
  • Divide the measurement by two to get half the shoulder measurement.
  • Add this when measuring from the shoulder and out along the outside of the arm to the knuckle of the wrist.

The combined measurement determines the shirt's sleeve length.

3. Add ease – extra room for movement

To get a shirt that fits comfortably, add ease to your body measurements:

  • For super slim fit: +6 cm
  • For slim fit: +8 cm
  • For regular fit: +12 cm
Example:

If you have a chest width of 100 cm and want a slim fit shirt:
100cm + 8cm = 108cm.

Choose shirt size 40 which has a chest width of 108 cm.

Tip

  • Measure with someone to get a more accurate result.
  • Use a soft measuring tape and thin clothing when measuring.
  • Then compare your measurements (including ease) with the shirt's size chart.

The table below shows the exact garment measurements in centimeters for our Regular Fit (RN) and Slim Fit (SN) shirts.

Compare your own body measurements with the table and add the recommended ease for your chosen fit (6 cm for Super Slim, 8 cm for Slim Fit, 12 cm for Regular Fit)
to find the size that suits you best.

Conversion table

Understanding the difference between different sizing systems can be a challenge when choosing a shirt.
Traditional shirts are usually specified in neck measurements (cm), while many online stores and garments today also use international sizes (XS–5XL) or C sizes.

To make it easier, we have created a conversion table that shows how the most common neck measurements correspond to both a descriptive size (for example, “Regular M” or “Large XL”) and the international size (S–5XL), as well as approximate C-size.
